Please help me with surfing?
So, I don't get to the beach very often, but I made today a platform out of pillows for my board to lay on so the fins don't get damaged as I practice pop ups on it. I just can't seem to pop up the right way It's making me very mad I lay on my board, grab the rails, and push up and pull my front foot out in front, but I always seem to be off balance with my feet to one side or the other and end up falling. Help
What are the best beaches for surfing in San Jose?

I've decided to take up surfing, but first I should know about it. Generally, how easy or difficult is it to surf? What are some safety precautions? Any good quality techniques? Begginer Boards? I suck at surfing... Advice?
I'm a teenager and I suck at surfing. Okay so I got a lesson a while back and have been surfing a couple times since then. I live a little way from the coast so I can't go too often. I am moving to the coast soon though so I plan on going more.Surfing is really bittersweet to me, because I love it, just for getting in the ocean and trying to surf, but it's also really bitter because I feel like I'm being judged for sucking. I surf in an area in CA where the " line up" isn't big on the beaches it's a smaller town, not like San Diego or anything , but it still sucks to feel like everyone on the beach in the water is watching me and thinking I suck haha. I'm trying to improve so I don't like feeling like I'm being judged.I really like everything about surfing, and I buy " surfer" brands like Volcom, RVCA, Vans etc. just because they look good, fit well, and I just like the surfing style. But I feel like I'm being judged for being a s itty surfer and wearing those brands too. Like I'm unworthy or a wanna be or something...I know I just need to chill but it's been bugging me. Advice?
Good places near northeast FL/southeast GA for surfing?
I want to take up surfing, but I know I'm a long way off from being ready for the " big waves" . Are there any good places near me that are decent enough that I could get some good practice in?

Hi,i dont live close to the beach and i only go surfing like,once every 2 weeks on a sunday coz we cant always go, and im a beginner, with a 7ft foam surfboard, i can ride white water well, but will i even be able to actually surf the green water and do tricks and that??Ive already had 5 lessons should i take more?? and i cant go surfing that much, like once every 2 weels as i said thanks
Using a d5100, with a tamron 70-300mm, 1:2 lens, with a tripod will i be able to take surf shots..?
wondering if I'm trying to shoot surfing from shore it breaks really close to shore at this beach break with the 70 300mm tamron will it autofocus quick enough for me to snap sequence, or 4 fps . don't really understand, will it have a lag time every time?? even if mounted on a tripod?? i know the d5100 only does 4 fps, but this is my first SLR camera and its within my budget. can come someone please shed some light on this. thanks
Can a surf helmet protect my head from past injuries?
When i was a kid I got in an accident and had to head operations to remove blood clots from my head. Because of this i have a piece of skull missing and i havent been able to play sports since then but i am really interested in learning how to surf. I was wondering if a surf helmet would protect my head with a piece of skull missing. I also was wondering what would be the dangers of me surfing with a hole in my head.... I live in The Bahamas and i love the water .. I am a BEACH BUM lol .... and surfing is something i have always wanted to do...so i would like to know what other surfers think about me doing this with my condition.The only injury that i know can happen is from the impact of the water on that side of my head with the hole. The doctors put muscle on top my brain to protect where the piece is missing. I need something to protect my head from the hard impact of the water.... i know this is a dangerous sport but here in The Bahamas we dont have huge waves like other places. There are only a few spots on Eleuthera to surf. One is called Surfer's Beach and was founded by Dudly Whittman in the 1950's. This beach is My Paradise I have sat and watched surfer's for the past 2 years amazed at the sport and would love to do it one of these days.
